Founding Members

Literature Council of Bhutan was initially established on 19th March 1993 as Nepali Bhasha Parishad, Bhutan, with the prima facie objective of promoting and preserving the Nepali language. This Nepali Bhasha Parishad, Bhutan, was renamed as Nepali Shahitya Parisad, Bhutan, in 2006 A.D and finally, it took the name Literature Council of Bhutan on June 11, 2011, with some major changes in structure, extension of area of work and up-gradation of its academic capacity in conformity with changed scenario and need of Bhutanese literary workers, readers and commoners spread over the various parts of globe.
